Normandale Community College Spring 2024 Semester Vacuum and Thin Film Technology
—Registration for Normandale’s spring semester 2024 classes is currently open.—
Normandale Community College offers a program in Vacuum and Thin Film Technology that consists of college-level course work for educating the technical/technician workforce in vacuum technology. The following vacuum technology (VACT) classes are being offered in the spring semester.
VACT 1010 “Foundations of Vacuum Science” (2 credits – NO prerequisite), delivered in a fully online, asynchronous format.
- Section 01: 16-weeks (Monday, January 8th – May 10th)
- Section 02: 8-weeks (Monday, January 8th – March 1st)
- Section 03: 8-weeks (Monday, March 11th – May 10th)
VACT 1010 addresses the basic chemistry and mathematics concepts that are used in subsequent VACT courses. VACT 1010 is appropriate for individuals who have not previously taken a chemistry course. VACT 1010 is delivered in a completely online, asynchronous format. There are NO live class/lecture sessions to attend in a course delivered in a completely online, asynchronous format; students access course content on their own time and complete assignments on a weekly schedule.
COSTS: The cost of tuition and fees are waived for VACT 1010 provided a student registers to take the class for a grade. The only out-of-pocket cost to take VACT 1010 is the cost of the course workbook (~$30). Students can also register to audit VACT 1010. The cost to audit VACT 1010 is ~$450.
