DESCRIPTION:  \nDeafTEC Resource Center and AccessATE are partnering with AHEAD Conference 2025\nYou can still register and get the early bird discount by May 30: \nAccess in Higher Education Conference in Denver July 14-18 \nThe special community college team application is closed\, but the above link still gets you to the conference details. For future reference\, we’re keep the team information below. \n\nThe DeafTEC Resource Center and AccessATE are partnering with AHEAD to send teams from 20 community colleges to the 2025 Equity & Excellence: Access in Higher Education Conference in Denver July 14-18. Each team will consist of a STEM faculty member and a staff/faculty from disability services and each member will receive $2\,500 travel stipend to attend the conference. \nThroughout the conference\, DeafTEC will host a topical “thread” on STEM programming and access for students with disabilities\, including pre- and post-conference workshops and activities. We may also tap into the expertise of some of our group to participate as panelists in some of our sessions. Our goal for supporting teams to participate in this conference includes not only providing a content-rich experience but also the opportunity for participants to develop a network of colleagues with whom they can share ideas\, and discuss issues and experiences in STEM programming for students who are deaf or hard of hearing as well as those students with other disabilities. \nMore information about this opportunity and how to apply can be found at https://deaftec.org/projects-programs/ahead/ \nHere is more information on the AHEAD travel stipend for community colleges.

Check in with us again next year!\n* * * \nIn-Person Workshop Micro/Nanotechnology (MNT) Health and Safety Course \nAll sessions conducted in the Physics and Nanotechnology Building \nYou can download the full PDF Workshop Agenda here. \n“Do you teach a course involving fine powders\, aerosols\, and/or nanoparticles?” \n“Are you unsure of how to handle these materials safely in your lab or classroom? \n \nThis summer MNT-EC is again offering a two-day workshop in partnership with the University of Minnesota – Environmental Health Sciences Division. 8:30am to 4:30pm Central Time. Topics currently planned for each day: \n\nOccupational Hygiene Principles Applied to MNT\nMeasurement of Airborne and Colloidal MNT Particles\nPreventing Exposures to MNT Particles\nPractical Applications of MNT Health and Safety Principles\n\n\nPlease scroll down to the RSVP Here form and click the red “Going” button to register for the free in-person course .\nOffered by the University’s Environmental Health Sciences Division and its Nano Center\, the MNT Health and Safety workshop will cover safety practices in the instructional laboratory\, including understanding micro/nanoparticle properties\, selecting and using personal protective equipment\, and safely carrying out chemical syntheses of nanomaterials. \nThe Micro/Nanotechnology Health and Safety Course will be held\, in-person\, Monday\, July 21 through Tuesday\, July 22\, 2025 at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus.
