Not only the Raspberry Pi (RPi) is a great tool for learning programming skills\, but there are also dozens of cross-curricular applications in the areas of science\, technology\, engineering\, arts\, and mathematics (STEAM). \nNote: A Raspberry PI board and a set of components will be distributed to the participants to be used in classes for hands-on activities. Please email Billie Copley – billie@micronanoeducation.org with your mailing address\, US residents only. There will be a max of 15 participants for this session. \nRegister at https://cccconfer.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwtdOyvqz8vHdzQq4gS3lkpaW4buNrV3fo3 \nBasics General content you will learn in this workshop: \n\nHow to install the PI\, and learn about the inner working of the Raspberry Pi system?\nHow to program with Python? The best way to program the RPi is with Python. We will spend some time to introduce the attendees to the basic Python language.\nUse the General Purpose Input-Output pins (GPIO) to interface with other hardware / sensors / electronics devices.\nSome sensors used:\n\nLEDs\nTemperature and humidity sensors.\nLCD displays\n\n\nSome projects:\n\nVNC for the Raspberry PI (remote access)\nRPi Oscilloscope\nKodi on the Raspberry PI (home theater) – if time permits\nMotion Sensor with the PI – if times permits URL:https://micronanoeducation.org/event/mnt-ec-workshop-introduction-to-raspberry-pi/2021-07-12/ CATEGORIES:Workshop END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20210719 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20210723 DTSTAMP:20240328T062449 CREATED:20210108T182935Z LAST-MODIFIED:20210108T182935Z UID:479-1626652800-1626998399@micronanoeducation.org SUMMARY:HI-TEC Conference DESCRIPTION:Preparing America’s Skilled Technical Workforce URL:https://micronanoeducation.org/event/hi-tec-conference/ LOCATION:Indian Hills Community College\, 525 Grandview Ave\, Ottumwa\, IA\, 52501\, United States CATEGORIES:Conference END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20210719T120000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20210719T153000 DTSTAMP:20240328T062449 CREATED:20210108T182819Z LAST-MODIFIED:20210622T180723Z UID:477-1626696000-1626708600@micronanoeducation.org SUMMARY:MNTeSIG LIVE! 2021 Virtual Confernece DESCRIPTION:The Micro Nano Technology Education Special Interest Group is proud to bring you the MNTeSIG LIVE! 2021 Virtual Confernece \nOUR MISSION: Foster collaboration between educators at all LEVELS\, INDUSTRY\, and AGENCIES for relentless improvement of the micro and nanotechnology workforce. \nWe are currently taking submissions for papers\, posters\, abstracts\, and presentations!\n\nMicro and Nanotechnology and related topics will be considered as well as strategies on how to best teach these effectively at the undergraduate (2-4yr) level.\nYour MNT students are also encouraged to submit a poster abstract highlighting projects\, and undergraduate research experiences. The target audience for this conference is post-secondary educators and students.\nYou can submit an abstract for a Presentation\, Poster\, and/or Paper for publications in the soon to be released Journal of Micro Nano Technician Education (JMTEd). In other words\, you can do a poster and submit a paper or submit a presentation and a poster\, or all three or just one!\nAll accepted submissions will require a 2-5min Lightening Round style video giving the highlights of your talk/paper/poster due one month prior to the conference. These will be shown during the lightening round sessions at the conference.\nPapers will be posted on the MNTeSIG Website and reviewed/considered for publication in JMTEd. Papers are due at least two weeks before the conference. Journal review will be done after the conference.\nPosters will be displayed in the virtual poster networking session and posted on the MNTeSIG website. You will be able to interact with conference participants in a virtual space – training will be provided prior to the conference. Student Posters accepted will receive an Oculus II to enhance the virtual experience.\nFeel free to submit multiple abstracts for different topics\, lead author can submit for multiple authors.\nAs lead author\, you will be notified as to whether or not your abstract is accepted and will then be required to submit additional details at that time (co-authors\, short bio and head shot\, etc.)\nLink to submit a 250 word abstract\, with title: MNTeSIG Live! 2021 Abstract\nLong presentations (30-50min) are to be pre-recorded and will be put on the conference YouTube channel.Presentation videos will be due at least two weeks before the conference.\nMNTeSIG team members can assist you in the creation of the presentation video.\n\nFor questions – feel free to contact Matthias Pleil at mpleil@unm.edu \nSubmit Your Abstract Online!  URL:https://micronanoeducation.org/event/mntesig-live/2021-07-19/ CATEGORIES:Conference END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
