DESCRIPTION:The Micro Nano Technology Education Special Interest Group is proud to bring you the MNTeSIG LIVE! 2021 Virtual Confernece \nOUR MISSION: Foster collaboration between educators at all LEVELS\, INDUSTRY\, and AGENCIES for relentless improvement of the micro and nanotechnology workforce. \nWe are currently taking submissions for papers\, posters\, abstracts\, and presentations!\n\nMicro and Nanotechnology and related topics will be considered as well as strategies on how to best teach these effectively at the undergraduate (2-4yr) level.\nYour MNT students are also encouraged to submit a poster abstract highlighting projects\, and undergraduate research experiences. The target audience for this conference is post-secondary educators and students.\nYou can submit an abstract for a Presentation\, Poster\, and/or Paper for publications in the soon to be released Journal of Micro Nano Technician Education (JMTEd). In other words\, you can do a poster and submit a paper or submit a presentation and a poster\, or all three or just one!\nAll accepted submissions will require a 2-5min Lightening Round style video giving the highlights of your talk/paper/poster due one month prior to the conference. These will be shown during the lightening round sessions at the conference.\nPapers will be posted on the MNTeSIG Website and reviewed/considered for publication in JMTEd. Papers are due at least two weeks before the conference. Journal review will be done after the conference.\nPosters will be displayed in the virtual poster networking session and posted on the MNTeSIG website. You will be able to interact with conference participants in a virtual space – training will be provided prior to the conference. Student Posters accepted will receive an Oculus II to enhance the virtual experience.\nFeel free to submit multiple abstracts for different topics\, lead author can submit for multiple authors.\nAs lead author\, you will be notified as to whether or not your abstract is accepted and will then be required to submit additional details at that time (co-authors\, short bio and head shot\, etc.)\nLink to submit a 250 word abstract\, with title: MNTeSIG Live! 2021 Abstract\nLong presentations (30-50min) are to be pre-recorded and will be put on the conference YouTube channel.Presentation videos will be due at least two weeks before the conference.\nMNTeSIG team members can assist you in the creation of the presentation video.\n\nFor questions – feel free to contact Matthias Pleil at mpleil@unm.edu \nSubmit Your Abstract Online!

DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED \nMore information will be available at a later date for participants to access this session. \nEducators at all levels desire for their students to succeed. For Community College educators teaching technical education course success is often defined as “graduates getting jobs”. Achievement of this goal is often tied to having a direct correlation between the student outcomes from the courses in the program and the industry requirements for new hires at a technician level. Industry participation in CC technical education programs is critical to ensure this correlation and also provide students with insight into the career environment and the myriad of opportunities available. \nThis workshop will focus on a three-step process that educators can follow to prepare them to: \n\nsuccessfully execute the initial contact with industry\nbe prepared for a “face to face” meeting with an industry person and\ninvite participation of the industry/company as a supporting participant in the technician program.\n\nDuring the workshop the participants will walk through the process for their particular technical education program and industry segment. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, September 8 and Friday\, September 9\, 2022\, from 12PM to 3:30PM (EST)\, please join to discuss ideas surrounding semiconductor workforce development and academic infrastructure and to hear the speakers’ perspectives about trends in semiconductor R&D and advanced manufacturing. \nThe two-day online workshop aims to examine how the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure can interact with the various components of the CHIPS Act of 2022.  The workshop content will be used to create a report that could inform CHIPS funding as it relates to USICA\, NSTC\, NAMP\, the Microelectronics Commons\, NSF Engines\, and FuSe.
